Dr Lynne Maher is Head of Innovation Practice at the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement. Lynne leads on the field of service innovation, exploring the practical application of new processes, methods, tools and techniques within the NHS to achieve transformational change for health services. She is the sponsor for work in the NHS exploring the use of design principles to really understand the actual experiences of care from the perspectives of patients and staff. Experience Based Design is a ground-breaking method of designing health services with patients based upon their actual experience of the service provided. Lynne is an Honorary Senior Fellow at the Health Service Management Unit, Birmingham University, an Associate providing advice for the National Endowment of Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA) and an advisor to Connect, a charity supporting people with dysphasia.
