Peter Saville
Ever since his first work for the fledgling Factory Records in the late 1970s, Peter Saville has been a pivotal figure in graphic design and style culture. His work combines an unerring elegance with a remarkable ability to identify images that epitomise the moment. After Factory, Peter moved from Manchester to London, where he became Art Director at Virgin's Dindisc label, working with Joy Division and New Order. He then formed Peter Saville Associates, adding art and fashion clients to his music industry base. After a brief spell at Pentagram, he moved to LA before returning to London to open The Apartment. Working with his long-term collaborator, photographer Nick Knight, he then launched the website SHOWstudio.com. Since then he has been partnering a fluid team of independent designers and creative consultants, handling projects for clients including Alexander McQueen, E M I, Stella McCartney and Givenchy. In March 2004, he was appointed Creative Director for Manchester.
