Deyan Sudjic

Originally trained as an architect, Deyan Sudjic's career has been based on writing, curating and teaching. In 1983, he set up Blueprint, working as the magazine's editor, then editorial director, a role he combined between 1993 and 1997 with teaching at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. He was editor of Domus between 2000 and 2004, and continues as architecture critic of the Observer.

Deyan is the author of several influential books and director of major curatorial projects. He was director of the Glasgow 1999 UK City of Architecture and Design programme, establishing the Lighthouse, Scotland's Centre for Architecture, Design and the City, and director of the 2002 Venice Architecture Biennale. Deyan currently combines his journalism, academic and curatorial work with the role of Co-Chair of the Urban Age Advisory Board, an initiative aiming to establish an ongoing dialogue between academics and urban practitioners. In 2006 Deyan became director of London's Design Museum.
